Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty, or “tummy tuck”, is an operation in which saggy, and excess abdominal skin and fat is removed, and the lax abdominal wall is tightened. This results in a smoother, flatter abdomen, and improves abdominal bulge related to a stretched abdominal wall.
Patients seeking abdominoplasty are typically women who have had children and wish to correct the abdominal laxity that occurs after pregnancy. Abdominoplasty can be combined with a breast reduction or lift, and is referred to as a “mommy makeover”.
Patients who have undergone massive weight loss also are also excellent candidates for abdominoplasty to address not only a lax abdominal wall, but the large amount of excess skin that persists after weight loss.
